BDO acted as financial and tax advisor to Pohjolan Liikenne when the company acquired the business operations of Oubus Oy. Pohjolan Liikenne is part of the VR Group.
BDO supported Pohjolan Liikenne throughout the acquisition process from start to finish, providing Financial Due Diligence services and assistance during the purchase price negotiations. In addition, BDO played a key role in evaluating the profitability of the public transportation contract portfolio.
With this acquisition, Pohjolan Liikenne is expanding its operations to Oulu by taking over Oubus’s entire business. For now, Oubus will continue to operate as an independent company, and the transaction will not impact its existing customer relationships or agreements.
Established in 2006, Oubus is a family-owned business offering both charter and local bus services in the Oulu region. The company currently employs approximately 60 transportation professionals.
Pohjolan Liikenne, a subsidiary of the VR Group, employs around 1,400 public transportation professionals across the Helsinki region, Kotka, Kuopio, and Tampere. As a trailblazer in electric bus transportation in Finland, the company has set an ambitious goal of transitioning to a fully electric fleet by 2030.
